Charcuterie & Cheese

While an insta-worthy charcuterie & cheese board may seem impossible to replicate, a yummy one certainly isn’t hard to create. When it comes down to it, all it is is a board (whether it’s wood, slate, marble, you name it) with lots of yummy nibbles. Put in the extra 6% effort of assembling it vs. eating right out of a container and voila, you’ve done it! Here are our 3 tips for a fool proof cheese board:

Variety of texture, color, shape, and taste. Use an assortment of hard and soft cheeses, add a couple sprigs of rosemary or arugula, fold different meats in different ways, and add some sweet and spicy things in there to keep your palette on its toes!

Arrangement is key. I like a full board with whimsical lines and curves. But hey, it’s your board: do what you think looks good!

Food is a must, duh! While you might think you need only the fanciest of meats and cheeses, back. up. You don’t need some obscure cheese that you know you won’t like (experimenting is one thing, but getting something fancy and obscure because you think you have to is silly). Start by pairing things you know you like and go from there. Figure out the tastes you gravitate towards and why you enjoy them. Use that to discover what new things to try!

Pictured left is last week’s board featuring mozzarella, smoked gouda, salami, olives, fire roasted tomatoes, pistachios, grapes, water crackers, raisin and walnut crisps, dijon mustard, and some rosemary and basil. Yum!

Ps. A glass or two of wine never hurts either. Cheers!
